EuroSlates
Slate
extraction
The slate is quarried from Galicia in the northwest of Spain.
The large blocks are transported to the factory where it is unloaded
and placed ready for processing.
Primary Splitting
The blocks are raised by forklift and split along the natural
seams to produce slabs varying in thickness between 200 and 300mm.

Sawn Cutting
The slabs are placed on the cutting tables and are cut into smaller
blocks, similar in size to the finished product. The cut blocks
are transfer red to the water filled holding containers to await
secondary splitting.
Secondary
Splitting
The blocks are transferred from the holding containers to the
splitting tables via a conveyor system. These are hand split by
master craftsmen to the required thickness.
Final
Preparation
The split slate is then transferred to the final preparation area
where the detailed cutting and shaping takes place. All the special
profiles are prepared at this stage.
Packaging
The finished product is packed into purpose made wooden crates
ready for transportation to its final destination.
Selection
and Classification
This is implemented throughout the production process to maintain
consistency in size, shape and thickness and to ensure the highest
quality product.
